CONGRESSMAN PEARCE ISSUES STATEMENT FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY
Las Cruces, NM (July 4, 2011) Today,Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement in honor of Independence Day:
“Today, as we celebrate together with our families, friends, and communities, we are reminded of what it means to be an American. Though much has changed in the 235 years since we gained our independence, we are still a beacon of liberty to the rest of the world. Today is a time to reflect on the values and principles that have been the foundation of our freedoms, and that have made us the great nation we are.
“I also ask you to join me in praying for our men and women in the armed forces and their families, especially those who are apart from their loved ones today. And, to all those who have served, and whose sacrifice has allowed our freedom to endure, thank you.”
Congressman Pearce will participate in a number of local celebrations in New Mexico on the fourth of July. He will serve as Parade Marshal in the Las Cruces Electric Light parade, which kicks off the local July 4th celebrations. He also plans to attend local events in Luna and Socorro.
