PEARCE CONTINUES ACTION FOR RESPONSIBLE BUDGET

Feb 3, 2012 Issues: Spending Cuts and Debt

Washington, DC (February 3, 2012) Congressman Steve Pearce voted in favor of H.R. 3582, the Pro-Growth Budgeting Act and H.R. 3578, the Baseline Reform Act. Both bills are measures taken by the House of Representatives to improve the budget process and fix the parts that are broken. The House of Representatives passed both pieces of legislation this week.

“The President has delayed presenting his budget to Congress,” said Pearce. “In the House, we are being proactive, working toward measures that will help fix our budget and restore America to economic security. The Baseline Reform Act and the Pro-Growth Budgeting Act both serve to reform our budgeting process and increase accountability, fiscal responsibility and overall effectiveness. Washington’s reckless spending habits have left our nation in an economic crisis, and it is time to take action against the failed policies of increased spending.”

H.R. 3582 directs the Congressional Budget Office to analyze policy changes and budget implications through a 40-year macroeconomic impact analysis. H.R. 3578 is intended to reform budget law and discontinue the assumptions that lead to increased spending.
