Aug 17, 2012 Issues: Economy and Jobs

Santa Teresa, NM (August 17, 2012) Today, Congressman Steve Pearce met with members of the Border Industrial Association to discuss jobs and the economy of southern New Mexico.

“It is an honor to be in contact with such an impressive group of business leaders that are working as one to ensure that southern New Mexico lives up to its fullest potential” Pearce said.  “I will continue working with the BIA and its members to support their efforts in the border region.”

The Border Industrial Association is comprised of 50 members, representing over 2,000 jobs, with hundreds of millions of dollars invested in southern New Mexico.   The Santa Teresa border region is quickly becoming one of the most competitive locations for attracting logistics and manufacturing operations in New Mexico.  Just recently, one of the largest ceramic tile manufacturers in North America established an 80,000 square foot distribution center generating over thirty new jobs in Santa Teresa.

“It was great to sit down with Congressman Pearce and have him listen about our priorities” said Miriam Kotkowski, BIA President. “The BIA is very concerned about protecting our local businesses from harmful government regulations and we appreciate Congressman Pearce’s continued efforts to stand with us in efforts to grow our economy.”
