PEARCE: NSA SEIZURE OF AMERICANS’ PHONE RECORDS IS REPREHENSIBLE

Jun 6, 2013 Issues: Defense and National Security

Washington, DC (June 6, 2013) – Today, U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement on the National Security Agency’s seizure of the phone records of millions of Americans.

“Today’s revelation that the FBI and the NSA are using the USA PATRIOT Act to collect communication records of millions of Americans is a gross misuse and abuse of law”, said Pearce. “The PATRIOT Act allows the federal government to protect our communities, cities, and nations from terrorists both foreign and domestic.  That the very act designed to protect our nation’s way of life is being used to violate the Constitutional rights of all Americans is reprehensible.  Myself, Congress, and the American people, must stand up and demand justice.  The federal government MUST be held accountable for its actions.  Otherwise, the rights, liberties and freedoms of each and every American will be treated as null and void.”
