PEARCE TO VISIT SILVER FIRE COMMAND CENTER
San Lorenzo, NM (June 13, 2013) – Today, U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce announced that he will visit the command center for the Silver Fire in San Lorenzo on Saturday, June 15. At 8:00 am on Saturday, he is scheduled to arrive at the command center, located at San Lorenzo Elementary School, 2655 Hwy 35 North. After the briefing, he will be available to talk with New Mexicans and answer questions about the information he receives.
“I would like to thank all our firefighters across the state for their tireless efforts, and commend them on their remarkable bravery, service, and professionalism,” said Pearce. “I have been watching the progression of this fire closely, and my office stands ready to provide any resources or assistance we can to those affected. Local residents, evacuees, and firefighters remain in my prayers .”
Pearce will be briefed by federal, state and local officials on the fire suppression response, and will be available afterward to visit with residents and evacuees.
The Silver Fire, in southeast New Mexico near Hillsboro and Kingston, has burned over 17,000 acres, and remains zero percent contained.
