Washington, DC (June 4, 2013) – Today, U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce voted in favor of H.R. 2216, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2014.

“I am honored to join my colleagues in the House to pass legislation reaffirming our nations support for our veterans and military families,” said Pearce.  “Members of the armed forces and our veterans have made monumental sacrifices to assure America’s freedom.  I believe today’s vote is one of the most important Congress takes, to honor and uphold the commitment the federal government makes to these brave men and women.  H.R. 2216 fully funds veterans’ pensions, disability compensations, and medical services, including 7.7 billion dollars in new funding to help veterans suffering from mental health issues.”

In addition to veterans services, this legislation funds important construction projects at Holloman, Kirtland, Cannon, and Ft. Bliss.  These projects will not only make needed improvements to support our men and women in uniform and their families, but ensure these bases continue to be the premier training and maneuver facilities in the armed forces for years to come.
